Getting ready for your wedding will probably be one of the most exciting, yet stressful few hours of your life. We get it! After shooting many weddings, here are some tips from a photographer's aspect to help things run faster and smoother when your photographer arrives.
1. TIME
Give enough time for shooting the details and prep. I personally would recommend at least an hour. If you wish to have some beautiful compositions, even more time would be helpful!
2. DRESSES
Remove the tags and anything extra off of the bridal gown, bridesmaid's dresses, and flower girl dress. Possibly designate a person to do that. If all the dresses are on matching hangers, it makes the photos look even better! They don't necessarily have to be custom order hangers, however, at least make sure they're all the same color hanger. P.S. Matching or personalized hangers are pretty cute though.
3. DETAILS
Have your shoes, veil, jewelry, wedding and engagement rings, invitations, flowers, perfume, and any other important details, all in one location. Having a special box or bag just for all those items will be helpful to find everything quickly in one place.
4. MENSWEAR & ACCESSORIES
Don't forget the Men's accessories - shoes, ring, cologne, watch, tie/bowtie, tuxes/suits, etc. Oftentimes overlooked are the men's details! Have those ready in one place to capture not just Hers, but His as well!
5. LIGHTING & CLUTTER
As you're finishing up your makeup and hair, the last part of the excitement is putting on the dress! Choose a location with good lighting and have someone clear out clutter. There's a lot of things needed to get ready, but all those things don't need to be in your getting dressed photos.
And most importantly of all, breathe, and just enjoy getting married!
